Oliver Apitius 1981

Oliver Apetius is best known as a maker of high end mandolins, but he also crafted acoustic guitars form 1976 to 1990. This model is the forth guitar he built, out of a total of 20 guitars, making this fine instrument a very rare specimen. It is a unique instrument with a lot of pearl inlay work.  It sounds and plays spectacular, with a brilliant top end and even mid-range and bass.

The back, sides, fingerboard and bridge are all Indian Rosewood. The top is Sitka Spruce. The neck is Honduran Mahogany except for the cheeks and end extension which are Philippine Mahogany.  The pick guard is made of 3 plies of Rosewood veneer with the center one being cross grained. This a very special instrument made by a master luthier who now specializes in mandolins and no longer builds guitars.
