This Guild D60 dreadnought acoustic guitar was made in the Guild's Westerly, Rhode Island factory. Featuring maple back and sides, this dreadnought has a full and loud tone, but with out all the mud and "woofiness" that a lot of other dreadnoughts can have. Like most of the Westerly era Guilds this D60 is built like a tank and sounds great. This D60 is in excellent condition. This guitar comes with its original Guild hard shell case.
308 D60s were built between 1987-1990. The 1987 price list for Guild lists the D60 at $1,395 over 30 years ago, and it was among their highest-priced guitars. The building of the D60 was supervised by Guild Master Luthier Kim Walger. The D60 was designed by Kim and vintage guitar guru George Gruhn. AAAA Sitka Spruce top, highly figured East Indian Rosewood on back and sides, ebony fretboard with unique D60 diamond slotted inlays, mahogany neck, clear pick guard, Grover tuning machines, ebony or hard maple bridge, Guild pearl inlays on headstock, herringbone purfling like an HD28, and herringbone around the soundhole rosette. Gruhn actually got Guild to lighten up on their (over-braced) tops and shift the X brace forward. D60s are very scarce and highly sought after. Johnny Cash played a sunburst version of the 1987/88 D60.
